I am a PhD scientist living in Durham, NC. My research focus is on better detection and understanding of heart disease using magnetic resonance imaging. I’ve actually toyed with the idea of doing a study in novice and experienced endurance athletes using MRI over the course of a training block to see how the heart structure and function changes with increasing training load.
When I’m not in the lab I like to run and cycle (and swim in non-COVID times). I’ve run multiple marathons, multiple century rides, and a few shorter triathlons. My future training goals are to tackle the longer distance triathlons up to Ironman distance. I’ve also played around with the idea of running further than a marathon, but that seems a bit much at this point. Perhaps when life gets more normal again.
