My name is Annika Landis and I was born and raised in Hailey, Idaho. Growing up, I was a member of the Sun Valley Ski Education Foundation Nordic Team for twelve years, and very early on became enchanted with the rigors and challenges of competitive nordic ski racing. I remember watching the professional skiers on the Sun Valley Gold Team and believing very strongly that someday I could be where they were – pursuing their athletic dreams at a national and international level. After graduating high-school, I spent four years skiing for Middlebury College in Vermont, which helped launch me into a higher level of competitive ski racing. By the end of my college career, I achieved consistent successful results both on the collegiate circuit and in national-level races. I am more confident than ever in my passion for the sport and my ability to continue to improve. Coming full circle, I accepted a spot on the SVSEF Gold Team this year and will be returning home to Sun Valley, ID to race professionally for them as I continue to work towards my goals of representing the USA internationally. This season, I aim to take my first step towards the 2022 Olympics by racing well enough on the domestic circuit to qualify for the U23 World Championships in addition to qualifying for World Cup Starts (covid-permitting!).
One of my favorite parts about nordic ski racing is that almost every activity is considered 'cross-training' and so I thoroughly enjoy running, mountain biking, climbing, hiking, etc.. Pretty much any activity where I get to move my body and be outside is enough to put a smile on my face.
