In 2006, as a college junior, I decided to “get in shape.” I set my sights on a race and used the infamous “couch to 5k” program. Just 15 months after I started running, I ran my first marathon and qualified for Boston. Since then, I have completed 15 marathons, achieving a Boston qualifying time at each. In 2016, I broke 3 hours for the first time.
I previously authored a monthly column called “Running through the Bluegrass” for The Running Journal and am a past contributor to SaltyRunning.com. I maintain a blog to document my adventures at tgrunfit.com and am avid user of social media, including Instagram, Twitter and Facebook.
An active member of the running community, I enjoy volunteering at races and working with new runners. I train with a coach based in Indianapolis and am active in our group social media and enjoy getting to do races with the "team," which encompasses something like 100 runners of all levels. I worked for five years in running specialty retail, led the store’s training group and have also coordinated store-based racing teams.
A certified Pilates and barre instructor, I launched my own virtual studio in April welcoming all abilities. I also teach at Baptist Health/ Milestone Wellness Center. I think Pilates can help everyone feel better physically and mentally, and the exercises specifically target common runner issues. My dream is to open my own combo treadmill and Pilates studio, but teaching virtually has been a great opportunity to connect with others during the pandemic, to continue helping people meet their wellness goals, and start building a brand for the studio.
I am an experienced brand ambassador, currently partnering with Sarah Marie Design Studio, RoadID and CTM Band, and always eager to share my own running experiences and celebrate the experiences of others.
In the rest of my time, I'm a senior account executive at Estes Public Relations, where I manage clients in the food, beverage, lifestyle, tourism and hospitality sectors. This also means I eat a lot and post about it for a living.
