I’m a passionate runner and cyclist. After spending my teen and young adult years overweight and inactive, cycling helped me turn my life around in 2005. I lost 120 lbs and since then have raced my bike competitively on the first all women’s team in Oklahoma for three years, survived being hit by a truck on a training ride, and returned to cycling. I took up running more seriously after my accident. I relocated to the Dallas area in 2015 to work for Baylor University. In January, I began working for the local community college to increase access to a college education for marginalized communities. I have run 15 half marathons. I had hip surgery in 2019 and have amazingly been running more and stronger than I ever have. I did a #covid19RunStreak that lasted 444 days and completed 22 straight months of 100+ miles per month. I'm also an Ambassador for Mind Over Matter Athletes. 2022 has been a challenge for me physically. In January, I began experiencing significant foot pain. Thankfully, I have found a chiropractor who is an accomplished runner himself and he has helped me significantly. While I'm not back to running the kind of distance I was before, I am running! I'm pretty passionate about trail running, but am finding that to be challenging to the various physical issues I have (hip / back / foot). I've started spending more time on the trail power hiking and more time on the road running. I've started leading a group of area women on monthly hikes. While I haven't had the athletic accomplishments that I wanted in 2022, I am not giving up and plan to be stronger as I enter 2023. Picky Bars (and Laird products) fuel me daily and I'm grateful and honored to be affiliated with you all!
