I’m a runner to my core. I’ve raced everything from the 800m in track to a mountainous 100k in the Alps. I’ve raced at the highest level including representing the US at the Trail Running World Championship but for the past 3 years I’ve been struggling to run during pregnancy and following childbirth. I now consider myself an advocate for pre and postpartum care and have been very open about sharing my experience in the hopes of helping even just one person feel less alone in their struggles. I’m still hopeful that I will return to racing and eventually competitive running but I am part of the running community either way. Since I have been unable to race recently, I have been going to races to cheer and support. Most recently, I was at the Salomon Women’s half marathon and was so excited to see an event with so much support for parents. I’ve also been finding alternative ways to adventure: exploring new trails on hikes with my family, getting out on my bike, and learning new sports like SUPing. I’ve learned that even though my heart belongs to running, there are many excellent ways to get outside and I hope to pass on that adventurous spirit to my daughter.
