First mountain bike race since COVID! Was great to get back into races and place in my age group! 23 miles of flow single track at the whitewater center.
Racing season was cut short by COVID. I was excited to be able to race again on the East Coast! I haven't been able to ride very much here and was excited to be able to do my first race out here. The whitewater center has so many miles of trails, and it made me want to do the 50! I was happy to stick with the Half Enchilada, and was even more stoked to place second in my ago group! I got to ride with my coworker and her partner, so we had a cheer squad. Riding with other women is so inspiring; being surrounded by badass females who shred on their bike is so awesome! The race did a good job of being COVID friendly and staggering the start times. I felt safe during the race, even though I did feel guilty about being in a group. Regardless, we got lucky with the weather, had no rain, and just had to deal with slippery roots. There was only one aid station because of COVID, but better than none! The race went faster than expected and I was happy to see the finish line. Was even happier to get a second place for my age group!
